Navigation for San Miguel Arcángel: |
After visiting the garden it's time to see how the padre's lived. We start in the kitchen (#4 in the map). The room dates to the 1820's and the beehive oven is original equipment.
The dining room (#5) is reached through a low doorway. It features built-in cabinets. One of the doorways leading out of the dining room illustrates continuing damage being done by both earthquakes and vibration from trains going by on the nearby tracks.
Also hanging on the wall in the dining room is an 1889 colored photograph of the church.
Room #6 is set up as a padre's bedroom. It's pretty basic with a fireplace and a rope bed. A typical padre's hat hangs on the wall.
From the bedroom you enter the living room (#7) and padre's administration room. This room is now set up as a general museum of mission-era artifacts.
Below you should see a rotating panorama of this room. You should be able to click on the panorama to stop the rotation at any point and then drag the mouse left, right, up, or down to see any specific area. If you have a mouse wheel, it should be able to be used to zoom in and out. If one or more of these behaviors does not work click on the full screen icon (top right corner) and try the behavior again. If you are at full screen, press the ESCape key to have the panorama return to this page.
Exit now to the mission arcade... Or, continue inside to the church itself...
